Polls in PP-266 postponed after death of candidate

LAHORE: The electoral candidate from Punjab Assembly constituency 266, Chaudhry Israr Hussain Gondal, passed away, which resulted in the postponement of the elections in the constituency.

Israr Hussain Gondal was taken to the hospital after suffering a heart attack. His condition worsened, and he was referred to Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, but he did not survive.

Gondal was contesting the election from PP-266 Rahim Yar Khan on the ticket of Tehreek-e-Jawan Pakistan.

Sources have confirmed that the election in the constituency has been postponed due to the candidate’s death.

The election schedule will be issued again in the constituency after the general elections.

Earlier, elections were postponed in the provincial assembly constituency PK-91 Kohat after the death of Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Ismatullah Khan.

It may be recalled that a few days ago, ANP’s candidate Niaz Wali also passed away due to a heart attack. Niaz Wali had submitted his papers from the constituency PK-70 of Tehsil Bara.

The Awami National Party had issued a list of its candidates for one National Assembly and three provincial assembly seats of Khyber a few days ago.
