Pervez Khattak denies quitting politics

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P) Chairman Pervez Khattak has denied the rumours of quitting politics as baseless.

In a statement, he said that he was not leaving politics or his party, which he had formed after breaking away from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in July 2023. He said that the results of the 2024 elections were still coming in, and that his political struggle would continue.

Pervez Khattak’s party suffered a major defeat in the 2024 general election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The party, which had formed a breakaway faction from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in July 2023, failed to win any National Assembly seat and only secured two provincial assembly seats in KP.

The main opposition parties, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, the Jammat-i-Islami and the Awami National Party also failed to secure seats and votes in the province, proving the PTI’s dominance and prominance.

The election results were widely seen as a referendum on the performance of the PTI’s previous provincial government.

Earlier, Siraj-ul-Haq has resigned from his position as the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, a religious political party in Pakistan, after his party was almost routed in the general election 2024.
