PDMA issues alert for snowfall in Murree


LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert to the Murree administration regarding expected rains and snowfall until January 31st.

According to a spokesperson for the PDMA, there is a possibility of snowfall accompanied by light and heavy rain in the Murree and Galliat areas from January 27th to 31st. Furthermore, rain is anticipated in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, and Sargodha on January 30th and 31st.

The spokesperson cautioned about potential road deterioration in Murree and Galliat due to snowfall and advised tourists to check weather conditions before traveling. There is also a risk of landslides in mountainous areas, prompting a call for preparedness against a sudden increase in cold intensity.

The PDMA has instructed administrations across Punjab to remain vigilant, maintaining a 24/7 information exchange system with national institutions. Rescue agencies are on alert and disseminating weather information to the public through various media channels. Foreign tourists are urged to exercise caution, and traffic police have been directed to provide regular updates, including fog alerts.
