Parvez Elahi’s family gets protective bail

ISLAMABAD: Former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi’s wife, son, and daughter-in-law, have been granted a seven-day protective bail in the alleged money laundering case registered against them by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The Islamabad High Court ordered the petitioners to submit bail bonds of Rs20,000 each.
IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the case in his chamber after a plea was moved by their counsel Sardar Abdul Razzaq.
The court approved the bail for Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s wife Qaisera Elahi, his son Rasikh Elahi and daughter-in-law Zahra Elahi, in exchange for Rs20,000 bonds each.
The petitioners have been directed by the Islamabad High Court to approach the relevant court in Lahore within seven days.
The protective bail was granted to the three in the case filed against them on July 19 in Lahore.
The petitioners said that they were facing political vendetta, and their protective bail be granted to allow them to approach the relevant trial court for recourse.
The FIA has filed a case against the accused on allegations of money laundering, with claims that the individuals were involved in the illicit transfer of Rs30 million.
