LAHORE: PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the cases against him were “hollow” adding that the largest “JIT” in Pakistan’s history would be formed on Feb 8 – the day general elections are scheduled in the country.

Flanked by senior PML-N leaders, including Ahsan Iqbal, Ishaq Dar, Maryam Nawaz, and Hamza Shehbaz, Nawaz Sharif expressed gratitude for seeing another day after a prolonged absence. He emphasized that his goal is not vendetta but holding those responsible for the nation’s sufferings accountable.

Anticipating “justice” on the election day next year, Nawaz mentioned, “On Feb 8, the largest JIT (joint investigation team) and court will be established with the participation of the people, and it will deliver a historic verdict against all the injustices that have occurred in the country.”

Reflecting on his removal from office in 2017 and the subsequent repercussions for Pakistan, Nawaz underscored that the vendetta wasn’t his objective, but rather, those accountable for the nation’s plight should face consequences. He asserted that the cases against him were fabricated, thanking God for protection.

Nawaz Sharif reiterated his commitment to justice, stating he has no right to forgive anyone who is an enemy of Pakistan. He clarified that he never conspired against former army chiefs Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa or Gen (retd) Raheel Sharif.

Addressing the media’s role during the Panama Papers case, Nawaz recalled media trials orchestrated by conspirators every evening. He highlighted his conviction despite the lack of substance in NAB references and the subsequent Islamabad High Court acquittal.

Dismissing the Al-Azizia case as bogus, Nawaz alleged political interference in NAB’s decisions and accused a sitting Supreme Court judge of bias. He emphasized that all cases were orchestrated to bring down his government and remove him from the prime minister’s seat.

Nawaz Sharif called for accountability of those responsible for the nation’s woes, emphasizing the impact on the lives of the people.
