Imad Wasim’s PSL journey takes a new turn

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development leading up to the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim has made a notable shift by joining Islamabad United.

The news was officially announced by Islamabad United on Wednesday, revealing that Imad Wasim has been included in the two-time champion team in the silver category as part of a trade that sees fast bowler Hasan Ali moving to Karachi Kings.

The announcement was made through Islamabad United’s official Twitter account, stating, “Hassan Ali has been sent to Karachi Kings in an exchange of talent and strategy. We welcome Imad Wasim, the outstanding player of HBL PSL 8. Welcome home.”

Following this trade, Hasan Ali will now represent Karachi Kings, while Imad Wasim will don the colours of Islamabad United in the upcoming PSL.

Imad Wasim, reflecting on this transition, said, “A new beginning. My special journey with Karachi Kings has come to an end. It was a dream come true to lead the team to win the trophy for the fifth season.”

He extended his gratitude to fellow players, fans, and Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal while wishing the team success.

In his statement about joining Islamabad United, Imad Wasim stated, “It is time to start a new chapter. Excited to join my hometown team Islamabad United. This is a wonderful franchise with wonderful people. I will try my best to live up to the trust of Islamabad United, Shadab Khan, and Ali Naqvi.” He bid farewell to Karachi, saying, “Goodbye Karachi, it is time to go home to Islamabad.”

It’s worth noting that Imad Wasim recently announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. The ninth edition of the PSL is expected to take place from February 8 to March 24 next year.
