CALIFORNIA: Despite facing a mass exodus of over 500,000 followers on Instagram, Doja Cat remains undeterred by the haters as her follower count still soars above 25.1 million on the platform.
The Grammy Award winning singer has found herself at the center of a storm due to her association with J Cyrus, a streamer who has been accused of emotional abuse by his Twitch followers. The controversy surrounding Cyrus has led many of Doja’s fans to abandon ship, distancing themselves from the pop sensation.
In response, J Cyrus issued an apology for his behavior, acknowledging his wrongdoings and expressing remorse. “There is neither an excuse nor justification for my actions. I was careless. I was greedy. I was ignorant. I was disrespectful,” he admitted.
Despite the backlash and fans’ outrage, Doja Cat appears resolute in her stance, showing defiance towards critics and those unfollowing her. On her Instagram she declared, “I don’t give a f— what you think about my personal life.”
While her follower count took a hit, she seems to have found a silver lining in the situation. In an Instagram story, she shared, “seeing all these people unfollow me makes me feel like I have defeated a large beast that’s been holding me down for so long.”
Despite the turmoil, Doja seems to be drawing strength from the situation, focusing on those who truly matter to her. She has maintained a defiant posture towards fans showing concerns about her personal life, often responding in a blunt and straightforward manner.
