DC, IG Islamabad to be replaced ahead of elections

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, the Ministry of Interior has issued a directive for the replacement of the Inspector General (IG) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Islamabad.
An official letter has been dispatched to the establishment division to immediately transfer the IG and DC Islamabad with immediate effect.

The directive specifically calls for immediate action, urging the Establishment Division to promptly initiate the transfer process for both officers.
The Ministry of Interior’s communication sites directives from the Election Commission as the reason for their transfer.
IHC judge reprimands DC for influencing court
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had directed the Establishment Division to transfer the deputy commissioner and the inspector general of police Islamabad.
Sources in the Establishment Division and the police said most of the senior officers of the police and administration, including IGP, DIGs, SSPs, the deputy commissioner and assistant commissioners, were posted in the capital by the previous PDM coalition government.
