Colin Munro joins PSL 9 draft pool

ISLMABAD: New Zealand batsman Colin Munro has registered himself for the draft of the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9).

He joins the PSL-9 session after England’s Alex Hales also confirmed his participation in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

The PSL 9 draft is scheduled to take place on December 13 in Lahore.

Colin Munro is a left-handed opening batter who is known for his aggressive and explosive style of play. He has played 57 ODIs and 65 T20Is for New Zealand, scoring 1271 and 1724 runs respectively.

He holds the record for the most T20I centuries (3) by a New Zealander and the fastest T20I fifty (14 balls) by any batsman. He has also played in various T20 leagues around the world, such as the IPL, CPL, BBL, GT20, APL, and T10 League.

Munro has been a part of the PSL since its inception in 2016. He has represented Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, and Multan Sultans in the previous seasons. He has scored 825 runs in 33 matches at an average of 27.50 and a strike rate of 147.32. His highest score in the PSL is 96 not out, which he made for Islamabad United against Lahore Qalandars in 2018.

The PSL is a professional T20 cricket league that was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. It features six teams: Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, and Peshawar Zalmi.

The PSL is regarded as one of the most popular and competitive T20 leagues in the world, attracting some of the best players and coaches from across the globe.

PSL 9 starting date

The ninth season of the PSL is expected to start from February 8, 2024 and end on March 24, 2024.

The matches will be played across different venues in Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad.

The PSL 9 is also expected to feature a new team from Middlesex, England, which will be the first foreign franchise to participate in the league as Middlesex and the PCB are in talks about the county side entering the PSL.
