Islamabad: Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, has conveyed his “deep concern” regarding recent incidents of Quran desecration in Sweden and other countries during a telephone conversation with Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom.

In a tweet, Bilawal stated that he raised the matter with his Swedish counterpart, who informed him that the Swedish government strongly rejects all forms of Islamophobic acts. Bilawal emphasized that such abhorrent acts should not be allowed under the pretext of freedom of expression.

Protests in Sweden and Denmark have witnessed the burning of copies of the holy Quran, leading to widespread outrage in Muslim nations and calls for the Nordic governments to take measures to prevent such actions. However, both Sweden and Denmark have maintained that they cannot intervene due to the protection of free speech as per their rules.
