PTI internal strife

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has urged party leaders to set aside their differences and support the party candidates in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala jail, where he had gone to meet the jailed PTI leader Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar said that they had to follow the vision of their leader, who was fighting for the cause of justice and democracy. He appealed to the PTI office-bearers and workers to avoid any internal conflicts and work together for the success of the party.

He also expressed his full support for Sher Afzal Marwat, a PTI leader from Lakki Marwat district, who had faced criticism from some senior party members. He said that Sher Afzal was a loyal and valuable member of the party, and he would contest the election from his home constituency. He dismissed the allegations of Sher Afzal’s involvement in corruption and anti-party activities, and said that they were baseless and motivated by personal vendetta.

Barrister Gohar said that the PTI was a democratic party, and there could be differences of opinion among its members, but they should be resolved amicably and respectfully. He said that the party was united under the leadership of Imran Khan, and it would emerge victorious in the polls.

He also clarified that the PTI had no electoral alliance with Sheikh Rashid, the leader of Awami Muslim League (AML), and that the previous alliance between him had ended. He said that the PTI would field its own candidates in all the constituencies, and that it did not need any support from other parties.

Sher Afzal Marwat reboots Sindh campaign after brief pause

It may be recalled that Sher Afzal Marwat had announced to halt his electoral campaign in Sindh, where he had gone to mobilize the voters for the PTI, after PTI spokesperson Raoof Hassand and Hamid Khan distnaced themselves from his recent statements.

On the social networking website X (former Twitter), Marwat had accused Hamid Khan and Raoof Hassan of maligning him and creating hurdles in his work. He had said that he was hurt and depressed by their attitude, and that he would focus on his own constituency instead.

Later, Marwat announced to resume election campaign in Sindh including in Karachi.
