CHENNAI: Pakistan’s national cricket captain Babar Azam lamented the missed opportunity to secure a victory in today’s match against South Africa, despite a brilliant performance.
In his post-match press conference, Azam said, “Pakistan showed great fight, and it’s unfortunate that we couldn’t finish the game when we were so close. The whole team is heartbroken by this loss.”
The team director Mickey Arthur said, “We have to take collective responsibility for this defeat.”
“Our players gave their best on the field, but I think we were short by 20 to 30 runs. Our bowlers displayed amazing skills, and we are committed to winning the remaining three matches of this tournament. Our chances of reaching the final are uncertain, and the loss is very disappointing.”
He said that blaming the captain or the chief selector would not be fair. “Everyone should analyse today’s match, and it’s clear that the players are united and were eager to win.”
