56 terrorist incidents took on Election Day: Gohar Ijaz

ISLAMBAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Gohar Ijaz emphasized that the decision to shut down mobile phones and internet services on election day was very difficult. However, it was deemed necessary due to security concerns.

He said that just a day before the general elections, explosions outside polling stations in two districts of Balochistan resulted in a total of 28 casualties.

The minister highlighted that the government had received intelligence reports indicating potential terrorist activities involving explosive devices in various locations.

He commended the deployment of hundreds of thousands of regular and civil armed forces, as well as other law enforcement agencies and civilian officials nationwide, for their efforts in ensuring the successful conduct of the general elections.
