Top 1000cc cars in Pakistan: Affordable and fuel-efficient choices

1000 cc cars

ISLAMABAD: In Pakistan, the 1000cc category has emerged as a popular choice among car buyers due to its cost-effectiveness, readily available parts, excellent fuel economy, and spacious interiors. Here are three favored options for those considering a 1000cc car in Pakistan.

Suzuki Wagon R

Suzuki Wagon R, often dubbed the “national car” alongside Mehran, initially faced a lukewarm reception upon its 2014 launch. However, over time, it has solidified its reputation as one of the best 1000cc cars available in Pakistan. It’s widely regarded as a reliable, efficient, and budget-friendly option.

Notably, it lacks some basic features such as rear power windows, retractable and adjustable mirrors, airbags, and ABS brakes.

The 2023 Suzuki Wagon R is priced between PKR 3,214,000 for the base VXR variant and PKR 3,741,000 for the top-tier AGS variant, excluding additional costs.

Suzuki Cultus

Suzuki Cultus, after dominating the 1000cc segment for over a decade, received a complete makeover in 2016. The new-generation Cultus shares the same K-series engine as the Wagon R but boasts superior fuel efficiency thanks to its lighter weight, advanced aerodynamics, and MPI (Multi-point injection) fuel system.

Despite initial reservations, the new Cultus has gained acceptance among buyers for its comfort and capability. It features a stiffer suspension compared to Wagon R and Alto.

The 2023 Suzuki Cultus price varies from PKR 3,718,000 for the base VXR variant to PKR 4,366,000 for the top Auto Gear Shift variant.

Toyota Vitz

Toyota Vitz’s popularity began with its first-generation introduction in 2000, and each successive generation has been well-received. The first generation stands out as a favorite, featuring a four-cylinder engine and a digital speedometer.

Recent generations come with three-cylinder configurations, primarily in the 1000cc variant, delivering an impressive fuel average of 15-16 km/L. Vitz is known for slight vibrations and lag due to its 3-cylinder engine coupled with CVT transmission, but this is outweighed by its exceptional build quality, reliability, and comfort.

The price of a used Toyota Vitz RS in Pakistan ranges from PKR 1,600,000 to PKR 3,200,000, depending on factors such as model year, mileage, variant, and condition.

KIA Picanto

KIA Picanto made its debut in Pakistan towards the end of 2019, offering quality and features that set it apart at the time. KIA maintains its commitment to quality and features, although recent price hikes have affected its affordability.

The manual variant now costs Rs. 2,600,000, while the automatic variant is priced at Rs. 2,700,000. Picanto is compact on the outside, which can limit rear seat legroom.

Fuel economy, especially for the automatic variant, hovers around 12-13 km/L in the city. Despite this, Picanto boasts excellent build quality and is the only locally produced hatchback with a rear wiper.

The 2023 KIA Picanto prices in Pakistan range from PKR 3,350,000 for the base 1.0 MT variant to PKR 3,850,000 for the top 1.0 AT variant, excluding additional charges.
