Stock market plunges again; investors brace for impact

  • PSX plummets for second consecutive day, loses over 1,000 points within an hour of trading

KARACHI: On Monday, first trading day of the week following elections, the stock market plummeted over 1,800 points, reflecting the political uncertainty that has ensued after the elections. Tuesday deepened the plunge with 1,148 points decline by 10:30 AM.

The stock market opened at 61,065.31 points today, and quickly fell down to 59,917.08 points, with the energy sector leading the decline.

Stock Market plummets 1,405 points following election day

Last week, the index put up gains on the board for the better part of the week with minor gains continuing until Friday. However, on Friday – the day after the General Elections – Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) plummeted 1,405 points within an hour of trading.
