Rupee freefall against US dollar continues


KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee weakened by Rs3.42 against the US dollar and closed at Rs294.93 in the interbank market on Tuesday, the State Bank of Pakistan said.

Overall, the Pakistani currency depreciated by -1.16 per cent against the US dollar.

The Pakistani rupee had closed at Rs291.51 against the US dollar on August 15.

Separately, the price of gold in Pakistan witnessed an increase of Rs900 per tola on Tuesday according to Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers’ Association (APSGJA).
