Nawaz Sharif should accept defeat: JUIF leader Mufti Kifayat

MANSEHRA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan-Fazl (JUI-F) member Mufti Kifayatullah on Saturday urged Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to gracefully accept defeat from the NA-15 constituency in Mansehra.

Speaking at a press conference, Mufti Kifayatullah said that there were no unfair practices in the constituency. He asserted that people had voted for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) backed candidate Shahzada Gustashap.

Mufti Kifayatullah pointed out that he also ran as a candidate from the same constituency and that he saw the entire election process up close. He mentioned that polling agents were present in every polling station and that he was also present in the control room. He word has weightage since he witnessed entire process up close.

Mufti Kifayatullah stressed the importance of respecting the public’s choice, stating that if they voted for PTI, it should be honoured. He referenced the 1970 Pakistani general election, saying that the public voted overwhelmingly for Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. However, the election results were not accepted and this led to the disintegration of Pakistan.

He stressed the significance of respecting public opinion to uphold the country’s integrity and future. He affirmed Shahzada Muhammad Gushtasap Khan’s rightful victory in the constituency and called for acceptance of the election outcome.

Despite his and Nawaz Sharif’s loss in the constituency, Mufti Kifayatullah urged him to gracefully accept defeat.
